Kicking off the first night of the San Antonio Rodeo was Cody Johnson, and it was my first night shooting with my new camera, the Sony a7iii. I’ve been wanting to upgrade to this camera for a while now, and I’m glad I finally did. It’s expensive, and the lenses are expensive, but it’s totally worth it.

I’m glad I got the last year and a half of concert photography experience under my belt before doing it, so I have a good starting point with this beast. I set up the settings for concerts like I have on the a6500, and with the lens I used the shots look great. I used a f2.8, 24-70mm lens. Even though I didn’t have the zoom range of the 18-105 with the a6500, the clarity of the photos lets me crop better to be able to “zoom” after the fact.

I’m pretty happy with the photos. Let me know what you think.
